Our Story

We began with a vision of providing an easy to use, secure internet trading solution for discount brokerages, the first large client was Waterhouse Securities then TD Waterhouse USA, for whom Marketware provided both the front-end client interface, as well as the proprietary middleware. At its peak, circa 1999 the TD Waterhouse implementation was processing in excess of 200,000 trades per day online - which was unprecedented at the time.

 

Soon, other financial powerhouses also became clients, with Marketware supporting the online trading solutions for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (Investor's Edge), the front ends and middleware technologies for the  Royal Bank of Canada (Action Direct), TD Waterhouse Canada (WebBroker), Legg Mason (LMOnline), and others. Eventually Marketware was acquired by TD Bank Financial Group, where Marketware personnel built and powered the Bank's international expansion creating online trading systems for subsidiaries in the UK, Luxembourg (covering all major European markets), Australia, Hong Kong, and Japan.

 

From 1999 through 2000 the Marketware technology team successfully supported various joint ventures throughout the globe. These included ventures with Tata, the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, Banque National de Luxembourg, DBS and others. This global experience, institutional network and cultural experience are important benefits especially when entering new markets or considering new expansions. We can help.

 

In late 2002, having left TD and anticipating a retail interest in global investment, Jose Pierre; CEO of Marketware International began looking at the economic and delivery challenges faced by financial institutions that offered their clients the ability to buy and sell securities outside their home countries. To mitigate those challenges and facilitate implementation, Marketware integrated its platform to several  global clearing entities and built alliances with internationally recognized, best-of-class providers of market data, clearing and custodial and professional services. Today, Marketware continues to deliver on its vision to provide Financial Institutions with customizable solutions for trading and related technology services.
